Jason Wu designs Madame Alexander dolls

Jason Wu, the fashion designer best known for creating first lady Michelle Obama’s inaugural gown first made a splash designing dolls, so its no surprise that he’s back in the dollhouse working on a collection for revered toy maker Madame Alexander.
He has introduced six dolls (two collections consisting of three dolls each), all donned from head to toe in couture fashion.

Margarita Zavala de Calderon & Michelle Obama: This Week’s Fashion Face-Off

Margarita Zavala de Calderon, wife of Mexican President Felipe Calderon, will be spending some time with Michelle Obama when the American first lady makes her first official solo trip to Mexico this Tuesday through Thursday. Zavala de Calderon is no slouch herself: as a former PAN deputy in the LIX Legislature of the Mexican Congress, she is the only first lady of Mexico to have ever served in Congress.
Leibovitz Sued

Just when her finances seemed to be regaining some order, Annie Leibovitz has been forced back in to financial wrangles with the firm entrusted to help her resolve her debts. Brunswick Captial Partners, which Leibovitz placed in charge of finding investors to relieve her money woes last year, is suing the photographer for $800,000 for unpaid fees.
Brunswick claims it introduced Leibovitz to Colony Capital, the company which enabled her to repay her $24 million debt, preventing the seizure of her properties and life’s work, the Daily Telegraph reports. Read more >
Heidi Klum wants Michelle Obama to be guest judge on Project Runway

Last week Victoria Beckham said she wanted to design some clothes for Michelle Obama. This week the star of Project Runway, Heidi klum, puts in her bid to land the First Lady. In an interview with Hollywood Life, Heidi Klum said, “I mean, obviously we would love to have the First Lady,”
Klum said that for politicians to have as much style as First Lady Michelle Obama is rare and she thinks America is changing. Michelle Obama has been so busy spreading her childhood obesity message recently that it would be hard for her to make time.

Maria Pinto to close Chicago store

After making her mark on fashion by creating clothing for first lady Michelle Obama and other celebrities, designer Maria Pinto says she’s closing her Chicago boutique because of the poor economy.
Signs posted this week in the window of Pinto’s store read “Closeout” and “Final Sale” as the designer hosts a liquidation sale through Saturday. Pinto attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and launched her own label in 1991. She has said she makes her clothes for real women, not trends.
