Lady Gaga Wins Fashion Icon Award 2011

Lady Gaga is among the nominees for the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards, which recognize the top talent in the fashion industry.

This award, fittingly, is given to the ‘Born this Way’ singer because she is what the CFDA consider a “fashion revolutionary imparting style today.”

CFDA nominations include:

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler. Jacobs will be honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

Menswear Designer of the Year: Michael Bastian, Simon Spurr and Patrick Ervell.

Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff and Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler.

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim and Robert Geller.

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Eddie Borgo, Pamela Love, Alejandro Ingelmo and Jason Wu.

Winners will be announced at the CFDA Gala on June 6th in New York City.

Lady GaGa Creates Fragrance That Smells Like Blood And Semen

According to Fashionista.com, Lady Gaga is creating her own signature fragrance and she wants it to “smell of blood and semen.” Gaga is not the first person to think of that idea.

Last fall, Rad Hourani launched a series of fragrances called Six Scents, one of which was inspired by semen.

Lady GaGa reportedly signed a long-term licensing agreement with Coty to create the fragrance. According to WWD, the first of these fragrances will launch in 2012.

Mini-Lady Gaga’s Most Popular Dresses

Anna Chong, designer from the London College of Fashion, has recreated a selection of Lady Gaga’s most popular looks in miniature form.

The unique collection features miniature replicas of Lady Gaga’s top outfits including the lobster hat and matching plastic dress, the American flag number from the Telephone video, the meat dress she wore to the MTV VMAs.

The collection to be premiered at London Toy Fair on Tuesday, 25.

Lady GaGa Creates Music For Thierry Mugler

Lady Gaga debuted a new track from her upcoming “Born This Way” album on the runway of illustrious designer Thierry Mugler. Lady Gaga’s personal stylist Nicola Formichetti, who created the infamous “meat dress” among other looks, is also creative director for Thierry Mugler and Gaga was chosen as music director for the fashion show. This isn’t Gaga’s first time to launch new music on the Paris runway. In 2009, she debuted “Bad Romance” at Alexander McQueen‘s show.

Her album “Born This Way” comes out on May 23.

Gaga’s Meat Dress Tops Time’s Fashion Statement List

Lady Gaga’s infamous meat dress has been named the Fashion Statement of the Year. The dress was designed by Franc Fernandez, was complete with a meat purse.

“If making fashion statements is your primary raison d’être, it’s easy to get bored. Exploding bra? Flamed out. Dress made of bubbles? Please. Using your hair as a bow? Not again. But a dress made of meat — with shoes, hat and purse to match — well, that’s fresh,” the magazine stated.

Other dresses that made the cut was M.I.A.’s Scream 2010 awards outfit, Venus William’s French Open corset, and Rihanna’s getup from Germany’s Echo awards. Also, Britney Spears, Taylor Momson, Heidi Klum, and Rita Wilson were included on the countdown.

Lady Gaga Does Viva Glam 2011 Campaign

MAC Cosmetics has signed Lady Gaga on for a second year as the spokeswoman for its Viva Glam campaign. In 2010, Gaga and Cyndi Lauper proved to be powerful forces when they teamed up for the Viva Glam 2011 campaign.

The company said the Gaga-Lauper campaign was the most successful ever for the MAC AIDS Fund, which has raised more than $190 million for the cause since its founding in 1994.

As WWD reports, the photograph of Lady GaGa that has been released by MAC offers a preview into Lady GaGa 2011 campaign which was shot by Nick Knight, and Nicola Formichetti styled it.

Bruce Willis sported a Lady Gaga-inspired raw meat hairpiece on The Late Show With David Letterman, explaining that “its 100% ground beef sirloin, top shelf, organic.”

After shaking some salt and pepper on his head, and then offering David a fork, Bruce asked Lettermant to dig in. And he did!

“My man!” an amazed Willis said. “Unbelievable ladies and gentlemen” before Letterman went offstage to spit it out.

Lady Gaga Working With Georgio Armani For Italian Shows

According to The Wall Street Journal, fashion designer Giorgio Armani has a multi-million dollar partnership with Lady Gaga and is working on new outfits for Gaga when she performs in Italy on the Monster Ball Tour.

“A huge company like Giorgio Armani has the duty to always be alert to trends and what appeals to young people,” says Roberta Armani, Mr Armani’s niece and head of VIP relations. “It helped to see how the world is through Lady Gaga, the way she uses Facebook and Twitter.”

The collaboration began last year when Giorgio’s niece Roberta got in touch with Gaga’s and asked about the fashionista’s interest in wearing Armani for the Grammys.
