Blogger Julia Frakes Stars in Gap China Campaign

Julia Frakes, fashion blogger, writer, and model stars in the Gap’s first-ever Chinese ad campaign. Julia (pictured on the right) was shot by Annie Leibovitz.
With three of their major rivals H&M, Zara and Uniqlo already setup in China, Gap will need to ensure their marketing strategy is up to scratch and appeals to the Chinese audience.

McQ’s New Creative Director

Luxury label Alexander McQueen promoted Sarah Burton to the roll of creative director last month to replace Lee Alexander McQueen following his death in February. Ferlisi will work under the direction of Burton on McQ.
Ferlisi has previously been creative director at Generra and has designed for Coach, Gap, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Gap, Banana Republic to Open in Milan

Gap Inc. has revealed their plans to open the first Gap and Banana Republic stores in Italy this year, according to WWD.
Located in central Milan, the stores will be side-by-side in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of the busiest shopping streets in the city. Milan’s Gap store will offer three floors and over 84,000 square feet of apparel, carrying Gap, babyGap, GapKids, GapBody and GapMaternity collections. In 2011, Gap is planning on building stores in Rome and other Italian venues.

Kate Moss: Stella McCartney for GAP

British supermodel Kate Moss comes out to support her designer pal Stella McCartney at the launch of her new GAP collection at London’s Porchester Hall on Tuesday (March 16).
Stella has said, “For years now I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids, it’s something I’ve often been asked about. I believe that this one off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand. I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate. Read more >
