Joan Smalls Named Global Spokesmodel of Estee Lauder

Estée Lauder announced that they have chosen Joan Smalls as the new spokesmodel of their cosmetics and skincare line.
Joan is the third new model Estee Lauder has signed this year, following the signing of Constance Jablonski and Liu Wen in April.

Gabourey Sidibe’s Rumored Makeup Line

Rumor has it that Gabourey Sidibe has a cosmetic collection in the works after she was seen meeting with makeup maven Bobbi Brown’s, WWD reports. Last week Precious star Gabourey Sidibe attended a party hosted by Estee Lauder. The very same day, she was spotted going in to a meeting with makeup expert Bobbi Brown.

Estee Lauder set to buy Smashbox

Estee Lauder has announced plans to acquire Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics, adding that it plans to expand the brand both in the US and overseas. No financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in July 2010, were revealed. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
LA-based Smashbox generates most of its sales in the US, and was founded in 1996 to meet the needs of makeup artists working on photo shoots. The brand was one of the first cosmetics companies to embrace digital and social media, and has a website that features instructional videos. Smashbox’s closest competitor is MAC, also owned by Estee Lauder.
Liu Wen And Constance Jablonski New Faces Of Estee Lauder

Estée Lauder’s just announced their newest brand ambassadors, Liu Wen and Constance Jablonski.
They’re both firsts—Liu’s the first Chinese model to be signed to the luxury beauty brand (and she was the first Asian model to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway, too). Meanwhile, Constance is the first French girl to land a Lauder campaign.
They round out the brand’s already perfect roster of spokesmodels including Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Elizabeth Hurley and Gwyneth Paltrow, and their campaigns will debut this June.
