Uma Thurman and Donna Karan are teaming to combat women’s cancer

Uma Thurman is the new ambassador of the Key To The Cure initiative, sponsored by Donna Karan, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Saks Fifth Avenue. Donna Karan designed the T-shirt to raise funds that will help eradicate the disease.
Uma Thurman takes the mantle from model Heidi Klum who served as ambassador last year. “Everyone I know has been affected by breast cancer one way or the other,” says Thurman. “It is vital that we work toward a cure as well as develop more accurate and advance testing.”

Time 100: Marc Jacobs Only Designer To Make List

Fashion media outlets like WWD were all aflutter this morning when the news broke that game changing designer Marc Jacobs will be the only fashion designer to appear in this year’s Time 100 list. But don’ worry—the annual issue, which hits newsstands tomorrow, will be chock full of fashion personalities anyway. Good friend Victoria Beckham had the honor and privilege to interview Jacobs for the feature, which she seemed all to happy to conduct. “He inspires and educates me every time we meet,” Beckham writes. “He changes how we see fashion with each collection he shows, be it his work for Louis Vuitton or his own baby, the Marc Jacobs line, which he started in 1986.”

US fashion designers pick McQueen for NYC honor

The fashion world has announced one more tribute to designer Alexander McQueen.
McQueen, who died in an apparent suicide in London last month, will receive the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s special board of directors honor at the industry’s annual celebrity-studded gala this summer. The announcement was made Wednesday.

Donna Karan Iris ~ perfume review

Iris is the first new fragrance to join the Donna Karan Collection, which up until now was made up entirely of relaunches from the line’s back catalog. The Collection scents are all done up in opaque black glass; the packaging is handsome if rather functional looking (see below) and the bottles have a nice heft. They’re in limited distribution, making this a sort of niche-from-mainstream kind of line along the lines of the Chanel Les Exclusifs or the Armani Privés, although the prices are more reasonable than that perhaps implies.
