The line is available in New York stores now (during NYFW) and will also be available at London’s Dover Street Market during LFW next week.

“Some Brazilian man, who could not ski, lost control and went straight at me, hitting me badly on my face and ribs (with his camera),” Diane von Furstenberg emailed WWD.  “I went to the emergency room and then flew to UCLA. I look like Mike Tyson on his worst fight. Broken nose and some light facial fractures.”

“All I want is to make women feel like they can be the women they want to be,” von Furstenberg tells WWD. “That message is so strong that now we have to put it in a bottle, in a tube, in a spray, in a jar and in a color.”

The gowns provide full-coverage and Diane Von Furstenberg has added the hospital’s diamond-shaped logo on the side of the gown.

“We are very proud of our hospital gowns for the Cleveland Clinic..we worked hard at it and we hope it will make patients happier!” Diane Von Furstenberg Tweeted to fans.

Claridge’s and von Furstenberg have enjoyed an intimate relationship since the 1970s and some of her past collections have even been inspired by the renowned hotel.

“One of my fondest memories was when I was in London as a young, independent businesswoman and stayed at Claridge’s,” the designer recalls. “I knew I had made it. To me, Claridge’s is the most glamourous hotel in the world; I regard it as my home away from home.”

Proceeds from the Vogue auction will benefit the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, a powerhouse organization that has done tremendous work for the post-earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti, among several other initiatives worldwide.  Wintour is the latest bold-face name to join fundraising efforts — Diane von Furstenberg also donated an internship (that one’s a month long) and Tim Gunn is offering up lunch with him at Bryant Park Grill.

The winning bidder pledges to fight human rights violations, while at the same time entering the Vogue lion’s den for a week — meaning there’s a good chance they’ll learn a lot about intense human interactions.

The four women honored were Sadiqa Basiri Saleem, who set up a learning center in Afhanistan, Haiti’s Minister of Commerce, Danielle St. Lot, the French-Colombian politician Íngrid Betancourt, who was held captive for six months by a Colombian rebel group, and Catherine Chon of the Polaris Project, which fights slavery and human trafficking.

Other people who showed up to support women were Andre Leon Talley, the photographer (and ladies man) Gilles Bensimon, Iman, Tory Burch, Fran Lebowitz, New York City’s Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, and Candace Bushnell. And really, how could they not attend a celebration of women? Women are great.
