London Fashion Week opens

Harold Tillman, the chairman of the British Fashion Council, called for a minute’s silence in memory of the late Lee Alexander McQueen, at the opening of London Fashion Week, at Somerset House.
Mr Tillman said: ”His impact was extraordinary and he will be sorely missed.”
London Fashion Week has also put up a memorial wall for fashion press and buyers to leave messages for the much-loved designer.

The fortunes of London fashion week switch more often than Lady Gaga swaps hairstyles. And – just like Gaga – change is just about the only thing you can rely on. If one catwalk week is awash with space-age mini-dresses and replete with standing ovations, then you can bet your best Prada sunglasses that the following season will be all baggy trousers and hand-wringing.
So yesterday’s announcement that the British Fashion Council is joining forces with Bafta to “create and develop links between London’s fashion and film industries” is ground-breaking stuff. Read more >
Burberry to partner with Sky for 3D live streaming event

Burberry is to live stream its upcoming Autumn Winter 2010/11 womenswear show in 3D to events in New York, Paris, Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
The Burberry Autumn Winter 2010/11 womenswear show will take place at The Chelsea College of Art in London at 4PM on 23 February 2010, during London Fashion Week. The private 3D events will receive live stream from London to custom screening spaces designed by Burberry Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey.
Burberry will be partnering with broadcaster Sky television on production using its innovative 3D technology.
