At fashion forum, Kors unveils new age limit

Last night, Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, and Natalia Vodianova gathered in Boston to participate in a panel discussion entitled “Health Matters: Weight and Wellness in the World of Fashion,” where they addressed current industry efforts to prevent eating disorders.
During the discussion, Kors vowed to raise the minimum age limit on models he hires to 16. “I think super-young girls used to be the exception,’’ Kors told The Boston Globe. “There’s always been a Twiggy, or a model who is very young. But they were few and far between. Read more >
Anna Wintour heading to magazine hall of fame

Already considered one of the most powerful people in fashion, Vogue’s Anna Wintour is headed to the Magazine Editors’ Hall of Fame.
The American Society of Magazine Editors announced Monday that Wintour would be honored at its annual gala in April.
“Throughout her career, Anna Wintour has exemplified the highest standards of taste, in both journalism and fashion,” said Sid Holt, ASME’s chief executive, in a statement. “She has defined style for a generation of magazine readers and come to epitomize the essential qualities of editorial leadership.”
Milan fashion show to launch with tightened schedule

After New York and London, Milan picks up the thread of the international fashion circuit Wednesday with a tighter schedule for the main shows to meet the needs of buyers and journalists.
Several thousand buyers from around 40 countries are expected in Milan as well as 2,000 journalists. Many of them will then move on to the Paris shows, which stretches over nine days, from March 2 to 10.
London Fashion Week opens

Harold Tillman, the chairman of the British Fashion Council, called for a minute’s silence in memory of the late Lee Alexander McQueen, at the opening of London Fashion Week, at Somerset House.
Mr Tillman said: ”His impact was extraordinary and he will be sorely missed.”
London Fashion Week has also put up a memorial wall for fashion press and buyers to leave messages for the much-loved designer.
NYFW Fall 2010: Marc Jacobs

He’s known as something of a fashion wild child, but Marc Jacobs shed that image with his Autumn-Winter 2010 show in New York this week.
His muted, elegant collection focused on eminently wearable ensembles, such as gray pencil skirts topped with soft sweaters and three piece women’s pant suits.
Much of the outerwear appeared to make reference to the 1970s, with chunky knit cardigans and mohair jackets belted at the waist and adorned with thick fur lapels and cuffs.
