At first glance, it looked like the ‘Mama Mia’ star Seyfried had accidentally committed a rather regrettable fashion blunder.

But as the actress sashayed down a Hollywood red carpet in a dress featured a forward-facing zip, it became clear that her back-to-front look was a very deliberate style statement, reported Daily Mail online.

The 24-year-old looked rather pleased with her choice of confection as she posed for photographers at the premiere of ‘Mother and Child’ at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre.

The unusual number featured purple satin trimmed with the exposed seam on one side and a photo-print design on the other.

The 24 year old admits she’s not naturally thin and has to work hard to maintain her super-slender frame.

And she is always aware that if she lets her body get bigger, her career may suffer – because Hollywood bosses want to cast thin actresses in lead roles.

She tells Britain’s Glamour magazine, “If I didn’t run and work out, there’s no way I would be this thin. But I have to stay in shape because I’m an actress. It’s f**ked up and it’s twisted, but I wouldn’t get the roles otherwise. If I’d been a bit bigger, I don’t think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!”

Seyfried has been using a raw food diet.
