CFDA’s Annual Awards Ceremony often called ‘the Oscars of fashion‘ held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center was magnificent. Lot of stylish celebrities, designers, models graced CFDA Fashion Awards 2010 with their presence.

Two Alexander McQueen dresses are being sold at auction

The items – taken from the late designer’s Autumn/Winter 2007 ready-to-wear collection – consist of a floor-length gold number and a cream gown with peacock feather bustier.
The auction will take place at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, in London on June 30 with the gold dress expected to fetch as much as £18,000, while the cream piece is estimated to take £14,000.

Sarah Jessica Parker to help honour Alexander McQueen at the CFDA fashion awards

Sarah Jessica Parker will present the posthumous Special Tribute Award to Alexander McQueen at the Council of Fashion Designers America (CFDA) Awards on June 7.
The ‘Sex and the City 2′ actress will award the prize to the British designer – who committed suicide in February – as a special tribute to his work. The pair famously walked the red carpet together at the Costume Institute Gala in 2006 in matching tartan outfits.
House of McQueen names new creative director

Alexander McQueen’s right-hand-woman Sarah Burton has been named creative director at the late designer’s fashion house. Rumors of who would head up the brand have been swirling since Gucci Group announced they would be continuing the company—those rumors can finally be put to rest.
Sarah worked with McQueen for 16 years before his death in February 2010. She joinied his team in 1996, even before graduating from Central Saint Martin, McQueen’s own alumnus. Sarah quickly worked her way up to head womenswear designer in 2000, and was tasked with finishing McQueen’s final collection upon his death. The collection received rave reviews and seems to indicate that McQueen’s legacy is in good hands.

Cate Blanchett chooses Alexander McQueen for Robin Hood premiere

Cate Blanchett has worn a gown by late British designer Alexander McQueen to the opening ceremonies of the Cannes Film Festival.
The black ankle-length, off-the-shoulder gown, emblazoned on the front and back by a silver eagle in flight, was part of McQueen’s pre-fall 2010 collection.
Blanchett wore the gown to Wednesday’s screening of “Robin Hood,” which opened the festival. She plays Lady Marion in director Ridley Scott’s muscular adaptation of the classic tale.
