Alexander McQueen Cruise 2011 Collection by Sarah BurtonNew Creative Director Sarah Burton has unveiled her first collection for Alexander McQueen Womenswear by showcasing the label’s Resort 2011 collection.

The collection was inspired by Hans Bellmer’s dolls and samurai warriors, Burton said she wanted to “juxtapose the pale and the delicate with the bold and armorial. It’s about a highly structured torso that gives way to a more fluid silhouette or drop waists that lead to a finned trouser or skirt.”

McQ’s New Creative Director

McQ's  New Creative DirectorLuxury label Alexander McQueen promoted Sarah Burton to the roll of creative director last month to replace Lee Alexander McQueen following his death in February. Ferlisi will work under the direction of Burton on McQ.

Ferlisi has previously been creative director at Generra and has designed for Coach, Gap, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The ads incorporate the Plato’s Atlantis reptilian print from McQueens Spring 2010 fashion show – the last show that McQueen would see through – as well as roses and skulls wearing the eyewear.

Two Alexander McQueen dresses are being sold at auction

Two Alexander McQueen dresses are being sold at auctionThe items – taken from the late designer’s Autumn/Winter 2007 ready-to-wear collection – consist of a floor-length gold number and a cream gown with peacock feather bustier.

The auction will take place at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, in London on June 30 with the gold dress expected to fetch as much as £18,000, while the cream piece is estimated to take £14,000.
