The Diesel Black Gold Fall/Winter 2010 Show at New York Fashion Week is the first from new creative director Sophia Kokosalaki and was a little more restrained than the last few collections we have seen from them. Out goes heavily ripped and distressed denim in all shapes and sizes and in comes less attention-grabbing, more mainstream, wearable denim.

The beguiling sounds of salsa and samba brought a hint of the carnival spirit to the collection by Brazilian, Carlos Miele.
Strapless, body-con mini dresses were in geometric slices of fuchsia, red and violet, banded with sequins.
Amazonian foliage was appliquéd in black, on cream bodices of short sheaths and long, dinner gowns.

Tahari caters to traveler who doesn’t dress down

Enough with dressing down, declared Elie Tahari on Tuesday at New York Fashion Week.
“The customer is looking for glamorous clothes. People want to dress up and look good,” the designer said.
On this day, however, editors, stylists and retailers making the rounds at Bryant Park for previews of new fall collections was decidedly more casual, in jeans and winter boots, as a wet snow fell outside.

The brunette sisters collaborated with fast-fashion chain bebe to offer a line inspired by pieces from the girls’ closets, a collection shown Tuesday during New York Fashion Week to another face made famous by reality TV: “Jersey Shore” diva Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
