CFW ties up with Partners in Health

Couture Fashion Week is pleased to announce it will be collaborating this season with Partners in Health in a silent auction and fundraiser to benefit the charity organization’s relief efforts in Haiti.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria, 301 Park Avenue, New York City. The fashion show at 7:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom featuring ANDRES AQUINO COUTURE, DIDIER PEIRO COUTURE JEWELRY, LEK NASUWAN JEWELRY and JANERATIONS will be followed by the gala Couture Fashion Week Valentine’s Ball in the Jade Room. Guests at Couture Fashion Week may browse through luxury auction offerings and place bids starting at 3:00 p.m. on February 13 as they enjoy the elegant atmosphere, cash bar and delightful displays of fine art, fashions, jewelry and more.
Narciso Rodriguez Turns Up on eBay with a New Lower-Priced Line

Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, and Claire Danes—whose wedding dress he made last year—are already among Narciso Rodriguez’s many celeb fans, and now he’s bringing his talents to the rest of us via eBay. Starting Monday, February 15, his exclusive, lower-priced capsule collection will be for sale on the site.
In a release, the New York City-based designer says, “I am extremely excited by the possibilities that this new online sales channel brings to my business long term. For me it’s always been about dressing many women of all ages, all types, all sizes, and this special collection on eBay is a unique opportunity to reach a broad global audience.”
Fashion designer Alexander McQueen, 40, found dead in London home

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen (né Lee McQueen), whose cutting-edge dresses were worn by stars like Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lady Gaga, was found dead in his London home this morning. He was 40 years old. “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family,” reads a message on the official website of the designer’s company. Rumors have begun to circulate online, but officials say the the cause of death remains unknown. “We’re devastated and I hope you understand that out of respect to his family and his colleagues we’re not going to be making any further statement,” said the designer’s spokewsoman in a statement.
Fashion Week feels a little prettier this time

Expect the models to have more swagger in their step when New York Fashion Week kicks off today.
There’s evidence that women are starting to buy again — both the luxurious clothes paraded down the runways and the knock-offs they inspire.
And after shunning the tents for less expensive showroom presentations, designers, including Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier, are trickling back in, just in time for Bryant Park’s swan strut before the event moves uptown to Lincoln Center this fall: 81 designers are showing this season, the first time the venue has packed 80-plus in at least 1½ years.
Lord & Taylor to dress up Jersey Gardens
