Marc Jacobs has opened a new store on Manhattan’s Bleecker Street named Bookmarc, which will be home to a careful selection of book titles and Marc Jacobs stationery products.

“We’ve developed a very big business in books. It’s more art books, it’s more photography books, and then it’s very personal to the company,” Robert Duffy tells WWD. “We have the luxury of picking somebody and commissioning something. I can ask one of the artists that I work with to together make a book.”

Prices for the Marc-branded school supplies are college student budget-friendly, with most (non-leather) items under $30.

2010 GQ Men of the Year Awards were celebrated at Royal Opera House.Giorgio Armani received GQ’s Designer of the Year Award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London on Wednesday.

The award was presented to him by close friend and collaborator, film director Martin Scorsese.

Karl Lagerfeld will not show a Lagerfeld collection at Paris Fashion Week . The show was scheduled to happen on October 3.

Instead, Lagerfeld’s representatives told Women’s Wear Daily that he will focus on a new collection called Masstige, based on the idea of “mass elitism”. The collection will be ready for A/W 2011, and will be sold online as well as via his Paris and Milan showrooms.

The collection – which will reportedly include women’s wear, some men’s pieces, denim, and sportswear -  will “be something affordable for lots of people,” the designer told WWD.

Betsey Johnson is debuting temporary tattoos at the end of September. The tats will be sold for $25USD at Betsey Johnson stores, and online at BetseyJohnson.com and will come in sheets of 5 with a total of 96 tattoos per pack.

“Tattoo you! Tattoo me! Tattoo all my jewelrya-ry!” said the designer. “We’re trying to get things you can buy at the cash register; stuff that everyone can wear and enjoy!”

Victoria Beckham was chosen to be nominated in the British Fashion Council award for the category of Designer Brand of the Year. Victoria will be facing some tough competition from noted British labels, Mulberry, Burberry and Pringle.

Victoria launched her own label in 2008 to raised eyebrows within the industry, but in just four seasons she has silenced her detractors, producing collections that have been critically acclaimed, commercially successful and endorsed by Hollywood A-listers such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz.

The British Fashion Award nominees were announced at a reception on the Roof Terrace at Soho House in London on Wednesday 1st September, and the winners will be announced on 7th December.

Lanvin will be the next high-fashion house to become a partner of fast-fashion retailer H&M. The collection for both men and women will be designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, and is slated to go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. Images from the collection will be available on November 2.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public,” said Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

French designer Catherine Malandrino will design a capsule collection for Lacoste inspired “by the brand’s sport heritage,” according to WWD.  She has signed on to this project for 4 seasons and you’ll be able to find the pieces in her store and of course the 67 Lacoste stores in April.

“As a French woman, I was very honored when they first approached me. Lacoste was so much a part of my childhood, too. It is still the epitome of class and joie de vivre that is linked to Lacoste,” Malandrino told WWD.

The designer has created a logo specially for the collab—featuring two kissing crocodiles, one green, one yellow.

Brian Atwood announced that he has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Jones Apparel Group, Inc. The company, who’s portfolio includes brands such as Stuart Weitzman, Robert Rodriguez and Rachel Roy, will essentially manufacture, market and distribute a new Brian Atwood brand – B Brian Atwood.

B Brian Atwood will be sold in better department stores and specialty retailers beginning in fall 2011, followed by the launches of B Brian Atwood handbags and jewelry slated for 2012. Shoes will retail for $200 to $400 and boots will cost up to $600.

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman and her husband, film producer Harvey Weinstein, have welcomed a baby girl into the world. On Sunday evening friends told The New York Post that the 34-year-old designer of frothy dream-like gowns gave birth to her first child, a daughter the couple named India Pearl Weinstein.

This is Georgina’s first child and Weinstein’s fourth and the couple married in 2007. Weinstein has three daughters from a previous marriage: Lily, Emma and Ruthie.

Fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg has designed colorful print hospital gowns for the Cleveland Clinic. Diane von Fursternberg met the CEO of the Cleveland Clinic at a networking conference in 2007 where the idea was conceived.

The gowns provide full-coverage and Diane Von Furstenberg has added the hospital’s diamond-shaped logo on the side of the gown.
