Disney Release Joy Division Mickey Mouse T-ShirtDisney recently began selling t-shirts on their online store that feature a design that was “inspired” by Joy Division’s iconic Unknown Pleasures album cover art.

“I was quite angry when I first saw it. No one asked us. They’re trading off the band and our album cover, but get away with it by apparently saying the design was ‘inspired’ by us. I don’t like the design at all. It’s horrible. I can’t imagine any Joy Division fans wearing it. Or anyone for that matter. Clearly, no one investigated the history of the band before coming up with this idea. It’s bizarre.” said ex Joy Division and current New Order drummer, Stephen Morris.

“I take it as a compliment. If I had a pound for every time someone bootlegged Joy Division, I’d be as rich as Disney. But it’s interesting in a kitsch way. It’s this cross between something very adult and this well-known image of childhood,” ex bassist Peter Hook told the Los Angeles Times.

The shirt, priced at $24.99, was available at the Disney Store .
