Jason Wu designs Madame Alexander dolls
Jason Wu, the fashion designer best known for creating first lady Michelle Obama’s inaugural gown first made a splash designing dolls, so its no surprise that he’s back in the dollhouse working on a collection for revered toy maker Madame Alexander.
He has introduced six dolls (two collections consisting of three dolls each), all donned from head to toe in couture fashion.
The first, the Cissy collection, features 1950′s inspired fashions and the type of daring women who wore them. “Vice” channels Christian Dior’s New Look in a fit-and-flare blue jacket and saucer hat; “Lust” totes a long cigarette holder, platform heels, and a hot pink bolero; and “Envy” looks dangerously seductive toting a martini glass in a taffeta coat dress and lace up platform shoes.
The second collection, NEOCissy, boasts more alternative, futuristic fashion concepts: “L’Enfant Terrible” rocks a black feather-and-sequins eye patch, “Blu Belle” rocks a fluffy blue afro and “Bon Bon” wears a houndstooth-printed glove as a hat.
Dolls in the Cissy collection cost $349 .95 each. The NEOCissy Collection dolls are priced at $159.95 each.
