Princess Diana’s dress fetches record price at auction

At a London auction on Tuesday, the dress worn by the late Princess Diana fetched 192,000 pounds ($276,000), or nearly four times the high-end estimate.
Designed by Elizabeth Emanuel and David Emanuel, Diana wore the darling frock during her first public outing as Prince Charles’ fiancee.
The dress, which auctioneer Kerry Taylor described as “iconic,” had been expected to sell for 30-50,000 pounds.
The taffeta gown was bought by Jorge Karur, the owner of fashion museum Museo de la Mode in Santiago, Chile.
