Karl Lagerfeld Models With a Washing Machine
May 30th
Pursuing his playful exploration of high-low chic, Karl Lagerfeld has trained his lens on the fall collection of French mail-order giant 3 Suisses.
The designer photographed model Iris Strubegger, who also will appear in this fall’s ads for his eponymous label, wearing items from 3 Suisses. Though the cover and layout may suggest otherwise, Lagerfeld did not have a hand in designing the sleek outfits. But the designer, who is also creative director at Chanel and Fendi, said he was eager to repeat his foray into the mass market, following his collaboration with H&M in 2004. “My dream is to turn the whole house of Lagerfeld into this kind of [mass] business, because I am at the peak of luxury with Chanel and Fendi,” he told WWD. “Being at both ends of the market is the height of luxury.”

Sarah Jessica Parker will present the posthumous Special Tribute Award to Alexander McQueen at the Council of Fashion Designers America (CFDA) Awards on June 7.
The ‘Sex and the City 2′ actress will award the prize to the British designer – who committed suicide in February – as a special tribute to his work. The pair famously walked the red carpet together at the Costume Institute Gala in 2006 in matching tartan outfits.
Louis Vuitton ads banned in the UK for misleading consumers

Louis Vuitton’s latest ad campaign has been banned—and not because of the French fashion brand’s heavy retouching. In fact, the evisceration of Madonna’s wrinkles is apparently far more acceptable than insinuating that the brand’s handbags are, in fact, made by hand.
“Despite ads showing a ‘seamstress with linen thread’ and boasting of ‘infinite patience,’ bags bearing the trademark pattern of an interwoven ‘L’ and ‘V’ are predominantly created by machine,” reported the Daily Mail earlier this week.
