Disney & MAC Cosmetics To CollaborateMAC Cosmetics is teaming up with Disney to create a limited edition color collection, intended to launch globally in late September in all MAC locations. Lipstick, powder, lip gloss and blush shades will be sold, ranging in price from $12 to $29.50.

Disney has been making waves in the fashion world of late, most recently with Disney Couture’s launch of a “The Little Mermaid” inspired jewelry line, and partnerships to promote Spring 2010′s “Alice in Wonderland,” including a ring collaboration with H. Stern, and Alice-inspired costume jewelry with fashion designer Stella McCartney

Estee Lauder set to buy Smashbox

Estee Lauder set to buy SmashboxEstee Lauder has announced plans to acquire Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics, adding that it plans to expand the brand both in the US and overseas. No financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in July 2010, were revealed. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.

LA-based Smashbox generates most of its sales in the US, and was founded in 1996 to meet the needs of makeup artists working on photo shoots. The brand was one of the first cosmetics companies to embrace digital and social media, and has a website that features instructional videos. Smashbox’s closest competitor is MAC, also owned by Estee Lauder.
